Julie Lux, Chief of Client Directed Services at MRCI, recently joined a national panel at the 2026 National Self Direction Conference in Minneapolis, sharing how Minnesota providers are leading efforts to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse in self-directed services.
Lux was joined by fellow panelists from Mains’l and Consumer Directions (CDI), both Financial Management Services FMS providers. Together, the panel highlighted practical safeguards, monitoring practices, and collaborative strategies FMS organizations use to ensure accountability while preserving participant choice and control. The discussion also addressed Minnesota’s current landscape, balancing strong fraud prevention measures with a commitment to accessible, person-centered services.
The Self-Direction Conference was held May 27 through the 29, 2026 at the McNamara Alumni Center at the University of Minnesota, the National Self-Direction Conference is the premier conference in the United States dedicated exclusively to Self-Direction, bringing together providers, policymakers, advocates, and individuals with lived experience to advance best practices and strengthen systems that support independence.
