Meet Wyatt

In the fall of 2020, Wyatt Bump embarked on a journey that would transform his life. Living in Delevan, he began attending the eight-week Track to Success class at MRCI in Mankato, MN,

commuting 45 minutes each way on the Prairie Lakes Transit Bus. Wyatt found the curriculum-based training class beneficial, stating, “The class was good, it taught me how to properly do an interview.” He gained practical experience by working at two locations, Hy-Vee and Walgreens, for four weeks each.

With the arrival of the new year, Wyatt relocated to Fairmont and applied to Hy-Vee, where he began working in April 2021. Starting as a Courtesy Clerk, he was responsible for bagging and bringing in carts. Over time, he expanded his skills and took shifts in the Frozen Department and as a Cashier.

Wyatt’s dedication and hard work did not go unnoticed. Cindy Johnson, the Human Resource Manager, praised him, saying, “Wyatt is an amazing young man, very hard worker. He will do anything to help a customer and he has come a long way since he has started with Hy-Vee. Everyone enjoys working with him.” Wyatt himself expressed his satisfaction with his work environment, stating, “I like working at Hy-Vee. My co-workers are the best.”

Wyatt’s growth over the past three years has been remarkable. He has become a productive team member at Hy-Vee and an active member of the community. He participates in MRCI’s monthly Lunch Bunch group, where he meets to discuss work-related topics and build camaraderie with old and new friends. He has also showcased his talents in the Fairmont Area Community Theater’s summer productions. He played Shrek’s father and Papa Bear in Shrek the Musical and also performed in The Sound of Music.

Wyatt Bump’s story is a testament to the power of dedication, hard work, and a positive attitude. His journey from a student at MRCI to a valued employee at Hy-Vee and an active community member is truly inspiring.
