MRCI’s Lunch Bunch is full of fun!

For many of us, a highlight of our work week is grabbing lunch with a friend, catching up, and enjoying a good laugh. This is what sparked the idea of Lunch Bunch four years ago, and it has proven to be a huge hit with our Fairmont crew!

Lunch Bunch is a lunch hosted every month for clients in Fairmont who have or are looking for employment.

It is time to make connections, discuss work related topics, and touch base on employment goals. It also creates an opportunity for people to share their recent successes and celebrate with each other or talk about some challenges they are facing in the workplace and get some advice. It’s not all work talk though! Lunch bunch is also full of fun and laughter. There’s always a seasonal activity, such as trivia or riddles, and the attendees really enjoy it.

Kristen Simpson, MRCI employment coordinator, says that the best part of these lunches is the time right after they order their food. During this time, they do a short presentation which includes “roll call”. Everyone says their name and where they work. Kristen says, “They are so proud of doing this. And we love watching them be excited by their employment”. This is a great reminder of the impact MRCI truly has on their clients. They also recognize monthly birthdays, which is another fun way to get everyone engaged and excited!

In the last 4 years, Lunch Bunch has met up every single month but two. The attendance is always great, and many people come back every month. MRCI can assist with rides to and from for those who need it.
