Success Spotlight: Meet Darryl
Finding meaningful employment can take persistence, preparation, and the right support. For Darryl, that journey led him to River Valley Motion Control, where he has worked as a Motor Assembly Production Worker since May 11, 2026.
Darryl began working with MRCI employment staff in May 2024 to search for job opportunities and build his resume. During the job search process, he participated in two job tryouts, gaining valuable experience and exploring different employment opportunities before finding the right fit at River Valley Motion Control.
Today, Darryl enjoys his work and has become a dependable member of the River Valley team. When asked how MRCI has helped him throughout his employment journey, Darryl shared, “I am thankful for the help looking for job opportunities in the area and being able to find a job I like.”
His supervisor, Blaine Parish, has also recognized Darryl’s contributions and positive attitude. Blaine shared, “Darryl is a very dependable employee and is always on time. He gets along with everyone at work and is a pleasure to work with.”
Darryl faced several challenges during his journey to employment. He was referred to MRCI for job placement after becoming an amputee and using a wheelchair. Living in a rural community also presented challenges with dependable transportation, while medical issues created additional obstacles during his job search. With support and determination, Darryl continued pursuing employment opportunities until he found a position that was a good fit for him.
His MRCI Employment staff have seen that determination firsthand. “Darryl is a great person to work with and has truly taken advantage of the opportunity at River Valley,” his Employment Specialist shared.
Outside of work, Darryl enjoys playing billiards and working on various projects. He especially enjoys helping others with repairs involving mechanical devices and vehicles, putting his interest in hands-on projects to good use.
Darryl’s journey is a great example of how determination, preparation, and the right support can help create new opportunities. Today, he is building his skills, contributing to his workplace, and doing work he enjoys at River Valley Motion Control!
