Success Spotlight: Meet John

On April 30, 2024, John proudly began his employment journey as a Retail Helper at Kwik Trip in Chaska. Since joining the team, he has become a reliable and positive presence in the store. In his role, John assists customers with a friendly and helpful attitude, completes his daily assigned tasks, stocks and organizes merchandise, and jumps in wherever his coworkers need support. His willingness to help and desire to learn make him a valued member of the Kwik Trip team.

To support his goals, John participates in Community Day Services and Employment Services through MRCI. These programs have played a meaningful part in his career development, offering opportunities to build skills, receive guidance, and develop confidence in the workplace.

When reflecting on his experience, John shared:

“MRCI has been helpful in assisting me in helping me find a job that is a good fit and checking in regularly to help me reach my goals. My community day services staff have also been helpful with problem solving and emotional support.”

His supervisors at Kwik Trip have been equally impressed with his commitment:

“John is willing to help with anything we need. He is constantly learning new responsibilities and asking if he can take on extra tasks. He is always helping the team.”

MRCI staff who have supported him throughout his employment journey have watched his growth firsthand:

“John has shown tremendous growth throughout his employment journey. He has built strong communication skills, developed effective coping strategies, and continues to take initiative in his role. His dedication and willingness to learn have made him a valued employee and a great example of success.”

Like many on the path to long-term employment, John has faced challenges, but his determination has been key. With support from MRCI and his employer, John developed strategies to manage anxiety and maintain consistent attendance, proving his resilience and commitment.

John’s journey is a powerful example of what can be achieved through perseverance, teamwork, and the right support system.
